Melanie Fernandes

Aside from her day job at the Association of British Insurers, Melanie is currently working to achieve a Chartered Institute of Public Relations’ post graduate specialist diploma in Public Affairs. She also regularly attends networking events such as Women in Public Affairs, Labour in the City and is engaged with the Fabian Society.

She has worked to support the wider ABI team and industry colleagues in securing the Civil Liability Act, one of the most crucial pieces of legislation for the insurance industry last year. Melanie also leads on the public affairs engagement to support the ABI’s Diversity & Inclusion advocacy, an issue she is passionate about. She organised the 2018 ABI Parliamentary reception around the ABI’s Gender Seniority Gap and communicates to parliamentarians the ABI’s diversity data collection.
