Election hub: Compare UK party manifestos on any issue

We are thrilled to announce our latest feature as part of PolicyMogul’s election coverage: Our manifesto comparison tool. It allows you to instantly compare manifestos from the major parties on any issue in a matter of seconds.

In this blog post, we will explain why we built it, why it’s free, and outline some of the problems we faced in making this tool available.

Compare manifestos in seconds

Using the tool is simple. Select the manifestos you want to analyse, and describe a policy issue of importance to you or your organisation. Seconds later, you’ll get a clear and concise table summarising if and how each party addresses your specific interests.

No more sifting through dozens of pages or spending hours trying to interpret complex political jargon. PolicyMogul does the heavy lifting, delivering a straightforward comparison in seconds.

Why we’re doing this for free

Political manifestos are often lengthy and complex; reading entire manifestos to identify relevance to specific issues is a laborious task at a time when, for many of us, every minute matters.

PolicyMogul recognises that small teams and public affairs professionals have impactful ideas, but often lack the time and resources available to larger organisations. This is why we are on a mission to make political intelligence available to all organisations, regardless of how deep their pockets are.

Democracy thrives when information is accessible, and we are proud to contribute by providing a tool that simplifies and democratises the process of identifying relevant political information and policymakers.

Problems we’ve faced

Our ‘nice problem’ is that since its launch, our manifesto comparison tool has seen overwhelming demand. With more and more searches and shares, we have incurred significant and unexpected costs in bringing the tool to market.

For the reasons explained above, we are committed to keeping the tool free for as many people as possible. This is why we have introduced a usage limit: Anyone can search the manifesto comparison tool up to three times within a 24 hour period, including logged-out users. We have increased that limit to 15 times per 24 hours for paying subscribers to PolicyMogul’s political monitoring and public affairs platform.

We are committed to keeping the tool free and effective for all users. If you want to support us, share PolicyMogul with others or sign up to one of our subscription plans for the UK’s most comprehensive political monitoring, public affairs and analysis tools.
